One-day itinerary in Jaraguá
One day is enough to go up the Serra, see the churches of the historic center and stop by the clothing shops. The itinerary below works by car and is designed for people arriving from Goiânia (about 120 km, 1h40 to 2h) or Anápolis (82 km).
Before you go
- Pick the right day: the Casa da Cultura is open only Monday to Friday (8 am to 11 am and 1 pm to 5 pm, according to the city government). On weekends, swap that stop for more time on the Serra.
- Check the weather. On rainy days the Serra's dirt road gets slippery. See the 7-day forecast.
- Bring water, sunscreen, a cap and closed shoes.
Step by step
| When | Stop |
|---|---|
| Early morning | Serra de Jaraguá. Entrance behind the Rosário church; about 5 km of dirt road to the ramp and the towers. Entry is free. Enjoy the viewpoint and, from June to October, the paraglider takeoffs. See Serra de Jaraguá. |
| Late morning | Historic center on foot. Matriz Nossa Senhora da Penha, Casa do Padre Silvestre (Casa da Cultura), Conceição church and Largo do Rosário. See the walking route. |
| Lunch | Goiás-style food or a steakhouse on the BR-153. See food and drink. |
| Afternoon (choose one) | Option A, nature: swim in the Rio Saraiva or at the Rio das Almas beach (swimming in rivers). Option B, shopping: clothing shops in Setor Aeroporto and Avenida JK (shopping itinerary). |
| Late afternoon | Praça do Coreto. The town's meeting point. If it is Festa do Divino season, plan for the Cavalhadas. |
If it rains
Swap the Serra and river swimming for the historic center, museums and shopping. The churches and the Casa da Cultura work in bad weather; the Casa is open on weekdays only.
If you only have half a day
Do the Serra in the morning and the historic center right after, skipping river swimming. Or go straight to the clothing shops if shopping is the goal.
How long each stop takes
The portal has no official timings for each stop, and they depend on your pace. For travel time, driving up the Serra's 5 km tends to be faster than walking; the historic center is compact and can be done on foot. Confirm opening hours of each place before leaving.
